These straps are supplied with
the Small Pony
Pairs Empathy Breastplate,
and are also available
separately here.
The straps fit through the slots in the breastplate in either one of two positions depending on the pony's size and type. The removal of these straps allow the breastplate to be used for single harness (although shorter traces may be required). The stainless steel buckle the connecting strap on the saddle and helps support the breastplate, while the bottom of the strap attaches to the false belly band for stability.
